There has been wild speculation as to who or "what" I actually am. As those who are around the Myth community know, you never, EVER are liked by everyone. You usually end up receiving attempts to belittle or berate you, those attempts usually coming from the exact type of person that they are accusing you of being. Heres the straight POOP. Name: Rick Stufflebean
Ya, I know thats tough to beleive. I am neither a 14 year old HaXor whom has pastey skin & multiple piercings, nor am I the rumored 450 pound Hispanic Hermit living in the Peruvian Mountains. I am married. Have two kids. Am Vice President & Creative director of the interactive division of a successful & growing Nashville, TN based Ad Agency. My specialties are interactive design & Logo design. I enjoy each of these tremendously, though Logo's are what I think I enjoy the most. WHY MYTH? Well, I originally downloaded the TFL demo's several times, but at that time really didnt put the time into it to become comfortable with the camera & controls. Basically I took it on initial impact & face value, which at "THAT" time wasnt what I was looking for. Later, I downloaded the Myth 2 demo & had more time to put into it. WOW, it was fantastic. I immediately went out & got my copy to get onto BungieNet & was encouraged by the people & the friends I made there. After about a month of playing I started investingating the Myth community further & found sites like Vista, Badlands, Anic, TownHall & of course The Mill. WOW, you can really do some cool things "yourself" with this game. NOW THAT, was something that turned me on!!! I immediately started work on my first Test Map to see if "I" could actually make something as cool as what I had downloaded from these other guys. The first map I designed & made was called Barbarian Valley & foolishly was released as a Beta v1b5 to the Mill. I have recently reactivated that archive at The Mill if anyone wants to see the map in it's First encarnation. The Unitsets are quit huge & somethings are kinda off balance, but it still remains very fun to play. After releasing Valley I did a practice project of redetailing Venice to be younger & happier. Upon encouraging from my ordermates at that time I released it. It actually had more problems with water & such than Valley did, but has unique unitsets on each of its meshes. Upon release of that, one day I got an encouraging email from some guy I'd seen maps by called Omac. He was gracious & said he liked what he saw & to keep up the good work. We continued to talk & as the weeks progressed we were growing closer as friends. During that time I had approached several groups about possible membership. Anictolyte was my prefered choice at that time due to the fantastic colormaps of Soma. Well, it took well over a month to get any kind of reply back from them, despite my continueing emails. Frustrating at best. I even went to the effort to show them the next map I was working on called Morte Della Luna. The response was Lukewarm at best. Too different. Not normal enough. People will hate it. Maybe put an island in the center or something like Chest has. NOPE! Not what I wanted. I wanted to be with creative & inventive people. Anic did not seem to be it & they did not seem to want me at all. (at first) Right along that same time I showed Morte Della Luna to Omac who then introduced me to Ares. They both had the vision to realize that this could be something unique & were interested in making it a Solo level also. That was it. I was invited into Creation & have been there ever since. My abilities have grown with my experience, but my enthusiasm for creating things for the myth engine has not diminished. If your here looking for a Moratoriam, I am sorry. I'm not going anywhere, & if I am not excited about Halo when it's released enough to learn to develop for it I will probably stay developing for Myth. Gee, what a refreshing change. Clem |
